The New Aviva stadium, built on the site of the old Lansdowne Road holds 52,500 spectators. Over 500m of low profile trench heating continuously runs along both the inside and outside perimeter walls of the lobby areas that give access to the terraced seating. The gentle curvature of the walls allowed the illusion of a curved trench to be created by incorporating a slight change of direction at each window mullion. The heat requirements needed a continuous element within the trench which we were able to achieve. I think you will agree that the results achieved are stunning and shows the ideal use for a perimeter trench. Namely in front of a large glazed area which allows for unobstructed views and prevents condensation build up.
